Fourth, God’s covenants are eternally secure and unbreakable in the sovereign will of God’s grace. Dale Ralph Davis notes three threats to the Davidic covenant, all of which fail to thwart God’s promised salvation. First is the problem of death, which fails to annul God’s promise, since even after David has lain down in death God will raise up his greater son, Jesus, to grant eternal life and raise his people from the grave. Second is the problem of sin, which fails to destroy God’s promised blessing.
